PRO40 Division Two, Wantage Road: Yorkshire 182-8 (40 ovs) bt Northants 178 (34.4 ovs) by four runs
Yorkshire clinched promotion with a tense four-run victory at Northants. Gerard Brophy hit three fours and a six in 59 but Yorkshire were unable to dominate the home attack and could only muster 182-8 having opted to bat first. Northants opener David Sales looked to have put his side on course for their first victory in the competition this term with 10 fours and two sixes in 88. But he was the last wicket to fall as Deon Kruis struck four times in 15 balls to bowl out Northants for 178. Rana Naved-ul-Hasan slashed two fours and a six in 23 but he was the first of three wickets for left-arm spinner Nicky Boje. Brophy brought up his fifty with a huge six over mid-wicket off the South African, but the Northants skipper had his revenge by having him caught. Boje added 21 with the bat but after he was bowled by Rana, Northants fell apart as Kruis took charge. Steven Crook went for a duck while Monty Panesar and David Wigley both had their
stumps blasted out of the ground by the fast bowler.
