COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP Division Two, New Road, day two: Worcestershire 339 & 45-1 v Warwickshire 251
Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott frustrated promotion rivals Worcestershire with an undefeated half-century at New Road on Wednesday. Trott finished on 88 not out as Warwicks were bowled out for only 251, Chris Whelan picking up 4-66. Warwicks had been bowled out in their first innings for 339, with Neil Carter taking 6-100 and Chris Woakes 4-80. Worcs reached 45-1 in their second innings after Woakes removed Stephen Moore, an overall lead of 133. Worcs' first innings ended quickly after they had started on 282-5, with Woakes taking three wickets, including captain Vikram Solanki for 91. Warwicks reached 74-2 in reply before Whelan and Imran Arif (3-72) wreaked havoc on their middle and lower order, though Ian Salisbury smashed 48 off 40 balls with a six and six fours.
