County Championship, D1, Edgbaston, day two (close): Warwickshire 476-9d v Derbyshire 83-0
Jonathan Trott's 14th first-class ton allowed Warwickshire to declare on an imposing 476-9, but Derbyshire coasted to 83-0 in reply at stumps on day two. Trott batted for well over seven hours for his 181 from 363 balls. He shared century stands with Ian Salisbury and Chris Woakes after three wickets fell for eight in 27 balls. The visitors began their reply needing 327 to avoid the follow-on, but Chris Rogers completed 1,000 runs for the season as he struck an unbeaten 51. Trott's first 50 came from 105 balls and he faced a further 146 deliveries
before posting his hundred. Former England leg-spinner Salisbury scored his 64 at a rather faster rate, with a straight six and two other boundaries in successive balls off slow left-armer Nayan Doshi. Having secured his third half-century of the season he top-edged to the keeper, but England U-19 seamer Woakes also lifted Doshi for six, before he was caught at point for 45, his highest Championship score. Trott had reached 999 runs for the campaign when he top-edged to slip.
