Prior knock guides Sussex to win

PRO40 DIVISION ONE, Riverside:
Sussex 224-7 (38 overs) bt Durham 221-6 (38 overs) by three wickets

Matt Prior's 79 from 83 balls inspired Sussex to a three-wicket, last-ball win over Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Sussex won the toss in the rain-affected match and put Durham into bat, with Phil Mustard's 82 helping the home side to 224-6 from 38 overs.

Late hitting from Liam Plunkett (27) saw Durham past the 200 mark.

But Prior's knock was the backbone of Sussex's 224-7, along with Chris Nash (25) and Luke Wright (27), before Ollie Rayner hit the winning runs.

The match was an afternoon of two England wicketkeepers, but Prior's innings proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Prior, standing in as captain in the absence of Chris Adams, put on 62 in nine overs with Wright before the latter was trapped lbw by Dale Benkenstein.

Mustard eventually ended Prior's innings with a neat stumping off Graham Onions as Sussex needed 15 balls from three overs.

They lost Rory Hamilton-Brown (21) but Robin Martin-Jenkins (11 not out), along with Rayner, kept cool heads to secure the win for the visitors.
