NatWest Pro 40 D2, Edgbaston: Warwickshire 206-9 (40 overs) lose to Kent 228-8 (40 overs) by 22 runs
Robert Key's 80 was the cornerstone of Kent's 22-run Pro40 victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston. The captain, who was fortunate not to have been run out for a duck, and Martin van Jaarsveld (49) added 82 in 14 overs as the visitors reached 228-8. The Bears never came close to reaching their target, with a solid Kent attack restricting them to 206-9. Jonathan Trott - 91 not out from 103 balls - was the only Warwickshire batsman to put up a fight. The hosts lost Neil Carter (11) and Jim Troughton (10) cheaply, but Trott and Darren Maddy (28) added 58 runs in 14 overs before the captain's dismissal triggered a collapse. Simon Cook (2-25) claimed the wickets of Maddy and Tony Frost, who fell lbw for a duck, and then Luke Parker (2) presented Geraint Jones with a simple stumping off the bowling of James Tredwell. Ant Botha (8) followed, Trott and Tim Groenewald's seventh-wicket stand of 58 in 10 overs was too little much too late.
