County Championship D2, Edgbaston, day four: Warwickshire 528-8d drew with Gloucestershire 336 & 189-4 Points: Warwicks 12, Glos 9 Match scorecard
A century stand between Hamish Marshall and Stephen Snell earned a draw for Gloucestershire against Warwickshire on a rain-shortened final day. Resuming on 36-0 and needing 192 to make the Bears bat again, the visitors quickly lost three wickets for 13. A dislocated thumb meant Alex Gidman could only bat in an emergency, while Marcus North had to wait as he had been off the field with an injury. But Marshall and Snell shared 103 in 34 overs to allay fears of defeat. Chris Woakes made an early breakthrough for Glos when a fine delivery was edged behind by Kadeer Ali. Will Porterfield was dropped at second slip by Ant Botha but the Irish opener was caught in the next over by Jonathan Trott at first slip. Birmingham-born Woakes then knocked out Chris Taylor's off stump with an
inswinger in a spell of 2-14 from eight overs. Even when Woakes bowled Marshall to take his 14th wicket in three matches, a 135-minute stoppage for rain meant that a draw was the final outcome.
