Dalrymple stars in Glamorgan win

Twenty20 Cup, Worcester:
Glamorgan 142-4 beat Worcestershire 141-8 by six wickets

Match scorecard

Jamie Dalrymple hit 38 not out and took two wickets as Glamorgan beat Worcestershire by six wickets in a low-key Twenty20 Cup clash.

The Dragons triumphed with seven balls left as the two sides, unable to qualify for the quarter-finals, ended their 2008 tournament involvement.

Worcestershire, after winning the toss, were restricted to 141-8 with Graeme Hick top-scoring with 59.

The 42-year-old hit two sixes and five fours but lacked support.

He quickly lost opening partner Vikram Solanki and the in-form Stephen Moore.

Ben Smith and Moeen Ali both departed to spinner Robert Croft (2-26) before veteran Hick skied man-of-the-match Dalrymple's third delivery to David Hemp.

Ryan Watkins also picked up two wickets before Kabir Ali was last out when he fell victim to a fine catch at long-off by Herschelle Gibbs off Dalrymple (2-22).

The Royals had to wait until the fifth over before they began to make in-roads into Glamorgan's batting line-up when lively paceman Kabir bowled Grant for 16.

His removal heralded the arrival of Gibbs who went into the match with an impressive 262 runs in five innings this season.

This time, however, the South African had to settle for just 19 before he was snapped up behind by Davies off Mitchell.

But the Dragons had enough ammunition left in the locker as Hemp (34), Dalrymple and Mark Wallace (26 not out) got the visitors home.
