Harmison shines in Durham victory

Twenty20 Cup, Riverside:
Durham 123-2 beat Leicestershire 119-8 by eight wickets

Steve Harmison and Gareth Breese each returned excellent figures as Durham eased to an eight-wicket win over Leicestershire in the Twenty20 Cup.

For the hapless visitors, it was a sixth loss in as many starts in this year's tournament, while Durham remain on course for the knockout stage.

The Dynamos won with 6.3 overs to spare, chasing down a sub-standard target of 120 with consummate ease.

Harmison took 2-12 in four overs on his comeback from a foot injury.

West Indian spinner Breese took 3-17 as Leicestershire scrambled to 119-8, the third lowest Twenty20 total ever registered against Durham.

After choosing to bat the visitors lost HD Ackerman third ball to Shaun Pollock but had reached 36-1 after four overs when Harmison came on.

However Jacques Du Toit skied the England man's second ball to mid-on as Harmison conceded only two runs off each of his first two overs.

He then had Jim Allenby caught at backward point as he bowled straight through his four overs.

Leicestershire's innings went into freefall and although leg-spinner Scott Borthwick was collared by Paul Nixon (35), Durham remained in control.

In Durham's reply, England discard Phil Mustard hit eight fours in his 42 off 23 balls before his opening stand of 58 with Michael Di Venuto ended in the sixth over.

Di Venuto was the only other batsman to fall, stumped for 40 off Claude Henderson, and skipper Dale Benkenstein comfortably guided Durham home with an unbeaten 21.
