Twenty20 Cup, Headingley Yorkshire 141-8 (15 overs) lose to Nottinghamshire 143-6 (15 overs) by 4 wickets
Will Jefferson and Samit Patel's second-wicket partnership helped Nottinghamshire to victory over Yorkshire in the Twenty20 Cup. In a rain-affected match reduced to 15 overs a side, Yorkshire made a decent total of 141-8 with Anthony McGrath and Craig White to the fore. The Tykes made a swift breakthrough by removing Andre Adams, but Jefferson and Patel put on 60 runs in four overs. And Adam Voges hit the winning runs off McGrath's final over. After a laboured start to their innings, Yorkshire seized the initiative with England skipper Michael Vaughan hitting a quickfire 17 off only eight balls. White and McGrath kept the scoreboard ticking over and the tail did its best to help Yorkshire to a competitive total. But Jefferson and Patel set about the Yorkshire attack with real intent before the newly registered Chris Cairns was bowled by Richard Pyrah. Voges and Chris Read put the Outlaws back in control until Pyrah struck twice in the penultimate over by bowling Read for 25 and holding a return catch from Mark Ealham off consecutive deliveries. With five needed off the final over, Voges smashed McGrath's second delivery for six to seal the win.
