Twenty20 Cup, Derby Lancashire 112-0 (16 overs) beat Derbyshire 111 (17.4 overs) by 10 wickets
Lancashire maintained their 100% record in the Twenty20 Cup with a 10-wicket demolition of a hopelessly outplayed Derbyshire outfit on Friday. Derbyshire won the toss and decided to bat, but made just 111 as spinner Gary Keedy and seamer Sajid Mahmood did the damage for the visitors. With eight batsmen out in single figures or for ducks, Derbyshire's total was never competitive. Unbeaten Mal Loye (54) and Lou Vincent (50) made the necessary runs with ease. Loye and Vincent finished the match off with four overs to spare as Lancashire completed only the third 10-wicket victory in the domestic Twenty20 competition. The home side never recovered from losing three wickets in the first four overs as Greg Smith went second ball to former Derbyshire captain Dominic Cork. Mahmood then struck three times in quick succession, claiming the scalps of Dominic Telo, Wavell Hinds and Rikki Clarke to leave Derbyshire on 27-4. Jamie Pipe did his best to stop the match becoming totally one-sided before going for 31 off 15 balls after Francois du Plessis had him caught on the midwicket boundary. Keedy wrapped up the tail to leave Derbyshire some way short of a competitive total, giving Loye and Vincent the luxury of an almost pressure-free innings.
