Stylish Wagh leads Notts response

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Old Trafford
Lancashire 384 v Nottinghamshire 148-2 (Day two, stumps)

Mark Wagh spearheaded a stubborn Notts response to Lancashire's first innings with an unbeaten 67 as the visitors closed on 148-2 on day two, 236 behind.

Wagh was in typically elegant form as he and Adam Voges (32 not out) added 88 before bad light ended play early.

Earlier, Steven Croft completed his first County Championship century for Lancashire as he added 62 to his overnight 60 before edging behind.

Croft's exit signalled a collapse as the last four wickets fell for 26.

Before that, his partnership of 121 with acting captain Luke Sutton provided the bedrock of the Lancashire innings.

Notts's inability to break that partnership appeared to frustrate seamer Charlie Shreck, who was spoken to by umpire Tim Robinson following a collision with Sutton, which is set to be reviewed on video.

Notts's innings then got off to a bad start when Matthew Wood went for 10 after edging behind a Sajid Mahmood delivery.

And they were wobbling when Will Jefferson hit a loose shot to gully and departed for 32, before Wagh and Voges steadied the ship.
