A fine bowling display saw Yorkshire reach the semi-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy after a six-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Bristol.

Tim Bresnan (4-31) and Matthew Hoggard (3-26) - making a return after action after a thumb injury - lead the charge, dismissing Gloucestershire for 201,

Steve Adshead (71) and Chris Taylor (54) top scored for the home side.

Craig White (55) gave Yorkshire the ideal start before Jacques Rudolph (53 not out) eased the Tykes home.

Hoggard's figures were his best one-day figures for nearly six years in all competitions.

The seamer - who has not featured for England since their first Test defeat to New Zealand in Hamilton in March - has been sidelined for two-and-a-half weeks after Steve Harmison broke his thumb.

The 31-year-old's first over went for 10, but he soon found his rhythm and dismissed Hamish Marshall, Alex Gidman and Marcus North.

606: DEBATE

Team-mate Bresnan went one better collecting his fourth wicket in the final stages of Gloucestershire's innings.

Yorkshire lost opener Andrew Gale for 12, but partner Craig White and Anthony McGrath built a solid platform with a partnership of 63.

McGrath was eventually bowled by Mark Hardinges for 31, but White continued to prosper with former South Africa batsman Jacques Rudolph as the pair closed in on the winning target.

White fell for 55 before Gerard Brophy followed in quick succession, but a quick 38 from 24 balls from Adam Lyth ensured there were no further problems for the visitors.
