Leics edge to frantic Notts win

FRIENDS PROVIDENT TROPHY
Oakham School: Leicestershire 147-7 (35 overs) beat Nottinghamshire 47-3 (12 overs) by 13 runs (D/L)

Leicestershire clinched a place in the Friends Provident Trophy quarter-finals after a win over Nottinghamshire.

The Foxes edged home by 13 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis to leapfrog their opponents into first place.

The home side had hit 147 for seven in 35 overs and the visitors reached 35-1 off 10.2 before another rain delay hit play at Oakham School.

An hour later, the target was 61 off 12 overs but Nottinghamshire fell short as they finished on 47-3.

Nottinghamshire had resumed for the final time needing to score 26 off 10 balls for victory but they lost Mark Waugh when he was run out for the first ball back.

Adam Voges was then stumped by Paul Nixon off Claude Henderson and failed to get the 23 needed off the last over to give Leicestershire victory in a frantic finale.
