FRIENDS PROVIDENT TROPHY Kent 219-1 (42.1 overs) beat Sussex 218-9 (50.0 overs) by nine wickets
Martin van Jaarsveld's century helped Kent ease to a nine-wicket Friends Provident Trophy win over Sussex. The South African's unbeaten 109 came off 98 balls and included nine fours and three sixes as Kent reached the target with 47 balls to spare. Michael Yardy top-scored with 54 as Sussex were limited to 218-9 after losing their last six wickets for 24. Opener Joe Denly was unbeaten with 83 as he partnered Van Jaarsveld to see Kent home after they lost Matt Walker. Missing Mushtaq Ahmed with a knee injury, Sussex used eight bowlers in a vain attempt to staunch the flow of runs from the bats of Van Jaarsveld and Denly.
