Steve Kirby recovers after getting hit on the head
Kirby had previously taken the first wicket of the 2008 season

Gloucestershire's Steve Kirby has been released from hospital and given the all-clear after being knocked out by a ball from Sussex's Luke Wright.

The incident occurred during day two of the game between the MCC and defending county champions Sussex at Lord's.

Kirby, 30, will miss the rest of the match having twice lost consciousness after the blow to the back of his head.

On the opening day of the match, he claimed the first wicket of the new season when he got Chris Nash out.
