The New Zealander made home skipper David Hemp regret his decision to put Gloucestershire into bat as he helped his side to 262-4.
The visitors lost two wickets within the first nine overs but Marshall rebuilt the innings.
He put on 192 with Kadeer Ali before being caught at point by Dean Cosker.
