Durham celebrate after winning the Pro40 Division Two title |
Durham beat Glamorgan by 70 runs to add the Pro40 Division Two title to their Friends Provident Trophy success and keep alive hopes of a trophy treble. Durham pipped Somerset to the title after the the Sabres lost to Middlesex.
The hosts raced to 150-1 in the 17th over but struggled to 203-7 before Liam Plunkett's 33 and Dale Benkenstein's unbeaten 58 took the total to 271-8.
A stand of 103 from Gareth Rees (63) and Michael O'Shea (49) gave Glamorgan hope but Durham limited them to 201-9.
Durham had 55 on the board after five overs, with Phil Mustard hitting Sky TV's giant screen over wide long-on off Andrew Davies.
He also struck five fours in reaching 36 off 22 balls before he skied an attempted pull to mid-wicket.

Michael Di Venuto (55) and Kyle Coetzer (45) added 83 in eight overs but when they departed Gordon Muchall fell first ball to spark a mid-innings collapse.
However, Plunkett and Benkenstein came together to revive the innings and ensure a commanding total.
The Durham players paraded the Friends Provident Trophy at the close, but they will have to wait for their Pro40 trophy as it had been taken to Taunton.
They could make it a domestic treble if they can win the County Championship Division One title next weekend.
