County Championship Division Two, Lord's, day one (close):
Middlesex v Nottinghamshire 389-7A superb century from Stephen Fleming gave Notts a good platform on the opening day of their game at Lord's.
The former Middlesex batsman shared a stand of 188 in 48 overs with Mark Wagh (92), after both were dropped early in their innings.
Fleming struck his 110 from 158 balls, including 15 fours and a six as the visitors recovered from 57-2.
Both of their openers fell to Middlesex's Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas, who finished with figures of 4-92.
It could have been so different had Middlesex's Billy Godleman not spilled left-handed New Zealander Fleming at square leg when he was on nine.
Soon afterwards Wagh was dropped at slip by Andrew Strauss on 23, with Alan Richardson the unlucky bowler on both occasions.
Fleming took full advantage of his lifeline and was quickly into his stride
with some delightful shots either side of the wicket.
Jamie Dalrymple's introduction saw Fleming race to his third century in the
last four matches with a straight drive through mid-off and then a massive six
over square leg.
Vaas was then brought back into the attack and immediately snapped up the
wicket of Fleming, who top-edged an attempted pull straight to the bowler.
The new ball saw the end of Wagh, who offered a looping catch to cover to give Tim Murtagh his first wicket.
Wicket-keeper Chris Read finished undefeated on 47 at the close.
