Chilton's Lancashire crashed out by eight wickets |
Lancashire captain Mark Chilton admitted his star-studded side were humbled by underdogs Gloucestershire in their Twenty20 semi-final. "It was a bit of a hammering, to be perfectly honest," he told BBC Sport.
"The pitch got slightly better, but that isn't much of an excuse as we didn't get nearly enough runs.
"It didn't go well for us - the first six overs are crucial whether you're batting or bowling, but we lost both of those sessions."
Gloucestershire won by eight wickets after limiting Lancashire to 148-6 before romping to 152-2 off 16.5 overs.
Openers Stuart Law and Andrew Flintoff failed to reach double figures after Lancashire were put in, while Steven Croft top-scored with 33.
But Gloucestershire's Craig Spearman blasted 86 off 55 balls to take his side to within 12 of their target.
"Gloucestershire were efficient in the field, got a couple of good run-outs and Craig Spearman struck the ball very cleanly," added Chilton.
