Shivnarine Chanderpaul made a winning contribution on debut as his Durham side beat Surrey by seven wickets.

The West Indies star hit an unbeaten 80 off 68 balls to steer Durham past the hosts' 248-6 with four overs to spare.

Opener Phil Mustard smashed 63 and Kyle Coetzer weighed in with an impressive 76, his first one-day half-century.

For Surrey, Scott Newman hit 84 from 85 deliveries, including 11 fours and two sixes, before he was bowled by Liam Plunkett, who finished with 3-54.
