Durham and Hampshire drew a blank as bad weather prevented any play on the second day of their County Championship game at the Riverside.

The home side were set to resume on 245-7, with skipper Dale Benkenstein looking to add to his 112 not out.

But persistent rain meant the teams were confirned to their dressing rooms throughout the morning.

And with no sign of overhead conditions improving the umpires abandoned play shortly after the lunch interval.
