Teenage debutant Tom Maynard fired a superb 71 but Gloucestershire maintained their hopes of a semi-final spot with a six-run win over Glamorgan.

The 18-year-old son of former Glamorgan and England batsman Matthew, hit three sixes after Kadeer Ali's 101 from 93 balls helped Glos to post 283-9.

Carl Greenidge conceded 22 from the first over of the Glamorgan reply.

Maynard took his team within 64 of the target when he was fifth out, but 11 from the final over proved too much.

Kadeer had a crucial reprieve on just 27 when Richard Grant put down an easy chance at cover off Alex Wharf.

He took full advantage with a superb century , featuring three fours in one James Harris over and two big sixes over mid-wicket off Huw Waters, the first of which was lost in an adjacent garden.

Greenidge took 15 from an Andrew Davies over, including a pulled six onto the pavilion roof, but then sent down four wides in an agonising opening over with the ball.

Grant and Mark Wallace shared 91 for the first wicket but it was Maynard who stole the show, the highlight a remarkable hook over deep backward square for six.

He shared a partnership of 77 with David Hemp before he gave a sharp return catch to Mark Hardinges and Glamorgan could not fully recover.
