Law century makes Sussex suffer
County Championship D1, Hove, day two (close): Sussex 330 v Lancashire

Stuart Law scored his sixth century against Sussex as Lancashire were bowled out for 330 in the County Championship match at Hove.

The 38-year-old held his side together with a valuable 119 after they were put in following a first day washout.

Law, who went into the match having piled up a remarkable 1,070 runs against Sussex for Lancashire at 118.88, was their tormentor again.

The Australian-born player showed his class as no other batsman reached 50.

Now in his sixth season with Lancashire and having secured British citizenship two years ago, Law reached his 77th first-class hundred in impressive style by firing his 12th boundary at the expense of Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.

He had been an injury doubt before the match because of a calf injury, but faced 141 balls in compiling his hundred in a stay of three-and-a-half hours.

He enjoyed just one let-off on 93 when Richard Montgomerie missed him at slip off Jason Lewry.

Naved, Sussex's best bowler with 3-94, eventually took Law's wicket when wicket-keeper Andrew Hodd took a good diving catch.

Sussex claimed maximum bowling bonus points as Lancashire were dismissed in poor light.

Their last three wickets added only 25 runs, with off-spinner Chris Nash snapping up two victims.
