Willoughby too hot for Glos again
County Championship D2, Taunton: Somerset 496 v Gloucestershire 201 & 104-0 (day two, stumps)

Charl Willoughby was Gloucestershire's nemesis again as Somerset made their local rivals follow on at Taunton.

The South African left-arm seamer, who had took 9-84 in the corresponding game last year, claimed 5-33 this time as the visitors were bowled out for 201.

After Somerset were finally out for 496, with Cameron White (241) last out, only Hamish Marshall (86) resisted.

Glos closed second time around on 104-0 thanks to positive batting from Kadeer Ali (42no) and Grant Hodnett (59no).

Carl Greenidge finished with 4-143 and Mark Hardinges 3-101 as Somerset added 84 in the morning with Australian White serenely moving on to his second highest score.

Then Andy Caddick (3-50) got to work, removing Ali, Hodnett and Marcus North in an impressive nine overs either side of lunch from the Old Pavilion End.

Willoughby then took over by swinging the ball in and letting other deliveries drift across the right-handers, which earned him 5-15 in the space of 26 balls.

Well as he bowled, the visitors contributed to their own downfall and the openers showed what could be achieved with more application later in the day.
