Wharf and Harris torment Gloucs
County Championship D2, Bristol: Gloucestershire 118-5 v Glamorgan 392 (day two, stumps)

Alex Wharf struck an unbeaten 128 before young seamer James Harris turned on the style as Glamorgan took total control of the game in Gloucestershire.

Resuming on 201-6, Mark Wallace soon completed his century before he fell to Alex Noffke, who ended with 3-62.

Mark Hardinges also took three wickets but Wharf combined with the tail with a superb knock to help Glamorgan to 392.

Harris then marked his 17th birthday by removing the hosts' top three as the hosts limped to 118-5 by stumps.

The youngster, from Gorseinon College, celebrated his birthday on Wednesday and got the ball rolling for the visitors when he yorked opener Ian Fisher with the total on 10.

He followed up with a tumbling catch off his own bowling to send back Kadeer Ali and then had Grant Hodnett caught at second slip to make it 48 for three in the 15th over.

Alex Gidman and Chris Taylor were the other men to fall to leave Gloucestershire with a tall order to salvage something on day three.

Earlier Wharf, who had to survive a confident appeal for a slip catch having made just 16 early in his innings, struck a six and 20 fours in his 226-ball innings - a career-best stand.
