Three wickets apiece for Chad Keegan and Murali Kartik ensured Middlesex denied Hampshire in the Twenty20 Cup.

Middlesex's total of 73-7 from a rain reduced 12 overs did not look enough, with only Ed Smith (21) making double figures as Chris Tremlett took 3-12.

But Kartik (3-16) and Keegan (3-14) led a steady fall of wickets as Hampshire's Michael Lumb top-scored with 22.

A miserly penultimate over by Jamie Dalrymple left the visitors too much to do as they fell five short on 68-8.
