County Championship Division One, Trent Bridge (stumps, day one): Nottinghamshire 397 v Lancashire 6-0Nottinghamshire's David Hussey hit a fine century as his side fought back well against Lancashire on day one. Dominic Cork and Tom Smith struck twice each to leave the rock-bottom champions on 107-5 despite Stephen Fleming's 53.
But Australian Hussey hit 22 fours and a six in his 150 off 177 balls, putting on 226 with Mark Ealham before left-arm spinner Gary Keedy had him caught.
Ealham soon fell for 83 as Notts were out for 397 and Lancashire closed on 6-0 from the remaining three overs.
It was Hussey's second hundred in as many Championship innings but it could have been so different had Cork not put down a chance off Oliver Newby at slip when he was on two.
His partnership with Ealham was the fifth biggest in the club's history and after his reprieve he produced a classy display of driving and pulling.
He eventually holed out to long-on off Gary Keedy and Ealham, who had been a quiet partner, played on to Newby three overs later.
Graeme Swann and AJ Harris played some enterprising shots to push the score towards 400 and even though they ended up three short of maximum batting points, the hosts will be happy with their position.
