Gloucestershire are into the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals after chasing down Glamorgan's 190-5 with just three balls to spare at Sophia Gardens.

Craig Spearman (51 off 28 balls) and Ian Harvey (28 off 17) gave the Gladiators a good start on Monday.

Alex Gidman then hit an unbeaten 52 off 35 balls to seal victory and dent Glamorgan's chances of qualification.

Richard Grant (77 off 44 balls) and Mike Powell (51 off 41) put on 116 for the first wicket for the home side.

But once they were parted no-one else made a significant contribution as Will Rudge claimed three for 37.

Gloucestershire had been reduced to 127 for four by home spinners Dean Cosker and Robert Croft in the 14th over.

That was after a turbo-charged start by Spearman and Harvey who put on 74 in 36 balls at the start.

But with the visitors' challenge seemingly fading, James Franklin handed them a lifeline.

Bowling with a wet ball, with the match having been played entirely in heavy drizzle, Franklin delivered two no-ball beamers and was taken out of the attack after five balls.

He had gone for 17 and the sixth delivery bowled by Richard Grant was dispatched by David Brown for six.

Though Brown was run out Gidman held his nerve to take the Gladiators into the last eight.
