Twenty20 Cup, New Road: Worcestershire 200-7 beat Somerset 198-4 by three wickets White hit his second Twenty20 ton of the year |
Aussie Cameron White smashed the world Twenty20 record with an unbeaten 141 for Somerset - but still finished on the losing side to Worcestershire. White faced 70 balls, hitting 14 fours and six sixes to better the previous best 116 he had held jointly with Graeme Hick of Worcs and Ian Thomas.
With both sides unable to make the quarter-finals, Somerset reached 198-4.
However, Hick led the way with an unbeaten 97 as the home side reached 200-7 to win by three wickets.
Although Gareth Andrew picked up three wickets, including skipper Vikram Solanki (33), Hick smashed 10 fours and four sixes, and his 97 came off just 49 balls.
Sabres skipper White, 22, had helped his side to a world record total of 250 in their only previous win this season.
