Flintoff stars on Lancs comeback
Twenty20 Cup, Old Trafford: Lancashire 93-3 beat Nottinghamshire 91 by seven wickets

Flintoff picked up three wickets in his first three overs
Andrew Flintoff starred with the ball in his comeback game as Lancashire beat Nottinghamshire by seven wickets at Old Trafford in the Twenty20 Cup.

He had Graeme Swann and Paul Franks caught behind, while David Alleyne trod on his stumps as Flintoff took 3-4.

After Flintoff caught David Hussey at cover, the visitors eventually perished for 91 as Dominic Cork took 4-16.

Stuart Law (62) then guided Lancashire home with four overs to spare, with Flintoff hitting a quick-fire 10.

Cork, who took the new ball with Flintoff, had taken two early wickets as the North Division leaders slumped from 11-0 to 14-5.

He returned late on to remove Clough and Andy Harris as the innings was wrapped up in just 19 overs.

When Lancashire batted, Flintoff was soon at the crease after Nathan Astle's early dismissal and struck a four and a six, but perished to a good catch by Hussey at wide mid-off from the seventh ball he faced.

I was pleased with the way I bowled

Law then used all his experience, hitting eight fours and two sixes to keep alive Lancashire's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

He won the match with a massive straight six off Samit Patel's second delivery - but was quick to praise Cork and Flintoff for their bowling heroics.

"Dominic's been a good signing - he's brought a lot of experience," Law said.

"But Freddie was awesome - just to stand at first slip and watch him bowl was great, though it's nice to face him from 60 yards rather than 22.

"We've lost too many Twenty20 games this year, but another good result on Tuesday and we've got every chance of qualifying."

Flintoff, meanwhile, was happy with his own performance - and insisted there is still more to come from him.

He said: "I really enjoyed it. I'd been out for the best part of a month and I've been building up my fitness, but I was pleased with the way I bowled.

"I came to Old Trafford last night to practice, and I'd bowled in the nets this morning.

"After my first over, I felt confident of running in a bit faster, and I think I've still got a little more in me."
