Hodge bids farewell with century
County Championship D1, Lord's, day one (stumps): Lancashire 359-5 v Middlesex

Brad Hodge hit 161 as Championship leaders Lancashire finished day one at Lord's on 359-5 against Middlesex.

Aussie Hodge, who joins Australia A for six weeks after this game, faced 225 balls, hitting 26 fours and, apart from a near run out on 19, was chanceless.

He took 11 from one Chris Peploe over and hit three successive fours off Johann Louw after a slow start.

Hodge put on 118 for the third wicket with Mark Chilton (93) and 81 for the fourth wicket with Stuart Law.

Chilton faced 201 balls, hitting 12 fours but missed a third successive century at Lord's when Chris Silverwood had him caught low down at slip by Owais Shah.

Middlesex chose to replace wicketkeeper Ben Scott with David Nash, who is playing his first first-class match at Lord's for nearly two years.

Because of injuries and international calls, the hosts also picked out-of-favour Paul Weekes, who was recently made available to go out on loan.

Scott Styris continues to stand in as captain for shingles victim Ben Hutton.
