County Championship D1, Rose Bowl, day one (stumps): Hampshire 345-5 v Nottinghamshire Pothas (right) overtook Crawley to reach his ton first |
John Crawley and Nic Pothas both hit centuries as Hampshire got out of early trouble to dominate Nottinghamshire. Hants fell to 92-4 after opting to bat on a seaming wicket, before the duo put on 217 - the county's highest fifth-wicket stand against Notts.
Pothas (117) took 198 balls over his ton, with 17 fours before finally falling for 117 to AJ Harris.
Crawley took 257 deliveries over his 47th first-class ton and was 103 not out at stumps with his side 345-5.
The former Lancashire captain continued his penchant for the Nottinghamshire attack - two years ago he hit an unbeaten 301, and last season improved on that by making 311 not out.
Pothas had to survive a sharp return catch to Harris on 21 and was slightly fortunate to reach his century because his edge off Mark Ealham just evaded diving keeper Chris Read.
