County Championship D1, Sophia Gardens (day one, stumps): Glamorgan 357-7 v KentGlamorgan, winless in the Championship this term, were on the back end of a fine batting performance from Kent's Martin van Jaarsveld on Thursday.
The South African struck an unbeaten 174 after coming to the crease when David Fulton was caught behind off the first ball of the match.
And it was he who gave the Kent innings momentum after a poor start.
For Glamorgan, David Harrison and Darren Thomas shared four wickets and at stumps on day one Kent were 357-7.
At one point it looked like it would be Glamorgan's day, especially when they reduced the visitors to 60-3 - Rob Key one of those to miss out.
But Van Jaarsveld, who became the first player to score four centuries in the County Championship this season, had other ideas.
His partnership with Darren Stevens, who hit a quick 80, was worth 143 and that swung the momentum decidedly Kent's way.
