Greg Lamb's century was not enough for Hampshire, as they slid to their fourth defeat of the campaign, beaten by four wickets by Northants at The Rose Bowl.

Lamb was undefeated on exactly 100, with seven fours and a six, as Hants posted 226-7 despite John Crawley and Kevin Pietersen both falling cheaply.

Although no Northants player reached fifty, five passed 25 and Usman Afzaal made an attractive 49 from 62 balls.

David Sales led them home with 49 in 42 balls featuring five fours and a six.
