Schofield was awarded 7,000 for unfair dismissal by Lancashire |
Former England spinner Chris Schofield has begun an attempt to resurrect his career by playing for Durham 2nd XI. The 26-year-old, who had an England central contract and played two Tests against Zimbabwe in 2000, was released by Lancashire last September.
Having struggled to find a county, he has now been offered a chance for Durham seconds at Herefordshire.
"It's a one match basis to start with," Durham chief Geoff Cook said. "We will re-assess him at the end of this game."
Earlier this year, Schofield went to a tribunal in Manchester to mount an unfair dismissal claim against Lancashire.
After a four-day hearing he was awarded 7,000.
