Schofield tries to revive career
Chris Schofield
Schofield was awarded 7,000 for unfair dismissal by Lancashire
Former England spinner Chris Schofield has begun an attempt to resurrect his career by playing for Durham 2nd XI.

The 26-year-old, who had an England central contract and played two Tests against Zimbabwe in 2000, was released by Lancashire last September.

Having struggled to find a county, he has now been offered a chance for Durham seconds at Herefordshire.

"It's a one match basis to start with," Durham chief Geoff Cook said. "We will re-assess him at the end of this game."

Earlier this year, Schofield went to a tribunal in Manchester to mount an unfair dismissal claim against Lancashire.

After a four-day hearing he was awarded 7,000.
