Crawley puts Hampshire in control
County Championship D1, Rose Bowl (day one, stumps): Hampshire 424-4 v Nottinghamshire

John Crawley celebrated his 34th birthday with a magnificent unbeaten 150 as Hampshire took control against county champions Nottinghamshire.

The hosts, who need 15 points to finish second in the table, were 424-4 at stumps after being put in to bat.

Crawley shared a fourth-wicket stand of 163 with Jono McLean (67) and passed 1,000 championship runs for the season.

Jimmy Adams and Simon Katich also hit 50s as Notts suffered after resting Ryan Sidebottom and Mark Ealham.
