Coloured kit had previously been used in the Twenty20 Cup |
Counties will use coloured kit and white balls for the first time in the C&G Trophy next season. The format for one-day internationals has only previously been used in the Totesport League and Twenty20 Cup.
"This is the competition that most closely replicates international cricket, and that is played in coloured clothing," said an ECB spokesman.
"The sponsors Cheltenham & Gloucester were keen to do it and it made good cricketing sense to us."
The new look will not apply to games involving minor county sides, who play in the first round on 3 May. But Scotland, Ireland, Holland and Denmark will all play in coloured clothing.
