Twenty20 Cup, Derby: Lancashire 144-5 beat Derbyshire 142-4 by seven wickets Indian star Dinesh Mongia was the hero for Lancashire as they beat Derbyshire by seven wickets in the Twenty20 Cup.
Mongia took 2-15 in four overs of slow left-arm bowling as Derbyshire totalled 142-4, Jonathon Moss making 39.
He then hit 50 off just 34 balls as Lancashire barely broke sweat to reach their target in the 18th over. Mohammad Ali claimed a defiant 3-27.
It was Lancashire's first win in the tournament while Derbyshire now have two defeats from two matches.
More importantly for the visitors, it was their first victory of any description in nearly six weeks.
However, Mongia will not be re-appearing for the Red Rose county this season. He had been brought in to replace the injured Carl Hooper but the West Indian has now recovered from a broken thumb.
