C&G Trophy quarter-final, Bristol: Gloucestershire 239-8 beat Middlesex 223-8 by 16 runs
Gloucestershire v Yorkshire semi-final on 17 July Gloucestershire booked a C&G Trophy semi-final date with Yorkshire as they beat Middlesex by 16 runs in Bristol.
They made 239-8 in their 50 overs, with Craig Spearman top-scoring with 62 and Philip Weston adding 54.
Weston survived a run-out chance in the first over to put on 118 runs with Spearman for the first wicket.
Gloucestershire Skipper Mark Alleyne then returned 3-31 as the visitors replied with a total of 223-8 despite a half-century to Ed Joyce.
Nantie Hayward, Paul Weekes and Jamie Dalrymple all took two wickets to restrict the hosts to what looked a lowly score.
Only Shoaib Malik (43) and Martyn Ball (33 not out) made meaningful contributions after the first wicket.
But, after slumping to 28-2 and 87-4, Middlesex were never in the hunt.
Simon Cook fired a late 32 not out off 25 balls, but Alleyne took vital wickets at the death - including Lance Klusener for three - to deny the visitors.
