County Championship, Taunton, day two of four: Yorkshire 213 & 280-9 v Somerset 232

  Latest scorecard

Somerset ripped through the Yorkshire tail but still face a stern challenge if they are to push for victory against the reigning champions at Taunton.

No Yorkshire batsman below number five reached double figures as Darren Lehmann's side stumbled from 230 for four to 280 for nine at the close of play.

But after earlier dismissing Somerset for 232, Yorkshire's lead of 261 might yet be enough as they chase the first win of their championship defence.

Yorkshire started promisingly, moving to 106 for one for the loss of Michael Vaughan before Simon Francis struck to remove a lively Craig White for 69.

Michael Lumb (62) and Lehmann (43) both got starts to their innings bit failed to go on with it, the captain falling to first-innings centurion Ian Blackwell.

It was left to Anthony McGrath, not out on 48 at stumps, to keep the score ticking over as Keith Parsons and Andy Caddick shred the tail.

Blackwell could add just 10 to his overnight score and Somerset 27 to theirs as Yorkshire claimed the remaining four wickets with little fuss.

Ryan Sidebottom indicated a return to form to claim Blackwell for 114, while Chris Silverwood was impressive in returning four for 28 from 10.1 overs.
