Durham chasing hard
Dominic Cork
Cork failed to maintain the early momentum
County Championship D2, Derby, day one of four: Durham 68-2 v Derbyshire 263 all out

  View latest scorecard

Neil Killeen took four wickets, and Mark Davies three in his second Championship match to bowl Derbyshire out for 263 at the Racecourse Ground.

And an unbeaten third wicket parnership between Martin Love and England one-day all-rounder Paul Collingwood helped Durham overcome early troublr to go to stumps 68 for two.

The home side could have been in worse trouble, though, after losing three wickets with the score 107 just before the lunch break.

And they had Pakistan-born Mohammed Ali Bukhari to thank for a blazing half-century on debut, and a partnership worth 38 with last man Lian Wharton.

Killeen accounted for Michael DiVenuto after the opener had made 56, and then had Dominic Hewson lbw for nought in the space of 10 minutes.

Killeen took two of the wickets to tumble before lunch
He had Dominic Cork caught-and-bowled for 56 after a patient mid-innings knock from the home skipper and Michael Dean followed for a duck.

After breaking up an opening partnership of 60, having Stephen Stubbings caught for 19, Davies followed up by dismissing Luke Sutton and Karl Krikken cheaply.

Cork, who earlier lost the toss, began with vigour having both openers, Jimmy Daley and skipper Jon Lewis, leg before in single figures.

But then came the consolidation, and Queenslander Love was 34 not out at the close, while Collingwood had reached 21, with two sixes.
