Shahid Afridi bludgeoned Leicestershire to the C&G Trophy final with a superb 95 off just 58 balls.

The Pakistan star made a mockery of the Lancashire bowling, hitting six sixes and eight fours in a spectacular innings.

Leicestershire wrapped up the seven wicket win with 20.1 overs to spare.

But they had looked shaky when Lancashire reduced them to 9-2.

That brought Afridi and captain Vince Wells to the crease and they breezed their way to victory with a partnership worth 152.

Afridi raced to his half-century off only 29 deliveries and looked as though he would record one of the fastest tons in the competition.

Onslaught

But as he launched another big one, he was caught near the boundary by Andrew Flintoff, off Glenn Chapple's bowling.

Afridi's efforts halted Lancashire's spirited revival after they had recovered from a perilous 84 for six overnight to reach 190 for nine with Warren Hegg top-scoring with a crucial 60.

Peter Martin lifted Lancashire's hopes further by claiming two early wickets.

Then Afridi got into his stride and signalled his intentions by hitting the former England seamer for two sixes and a four in successive balls.

Wells also contributed to Leicestershire's onslaught with an unbeaten half-century as the game quickly disappeared from Lancashire.

Leicestershire now meet Somerset in the final at Lord's on 1 September.
