Rob Bailey scored his first century of the season but could not save Derbyshire from another defeat as Worcestershire completed victory by an innings and three runs.

The former England batsman made an undefeated 136 to keep Worcestershire in the field until well into the afternoon session.

But a fifth defeat of the season keeps Derbyshire rooted to the foot of the Second Division.

The home side resumed requiring 124 more runs to make Worcestershire bat again with five wickets in hand.

Bailey and Graeme Welch frustrated the visitors for much of the morning in taking their sixth wicket stand to 115 in 49 overs of dogged resistance.

Welch fell in the over before lunch, LBW to Alamgir Sheriyar for 39.

Nathan Dumelow dropped anchor alongside Bailey in a stand of 40, but once he fell to Matthew Rawnsley, Derbyshire bowed to the inevitable.

Kabir Ali removed Paul Aldred and Luke Wharton in the space of four balls as the home side were dismissed for 295.

It left Bailey unbeaten after more than six hours at the crease. He faced 255 balls and a hit a six and 17 fours.
