Efficient Gloucs march on
Durham's Paul Collingwood takes a return catch
Mark Alleyne's innings comes to an end
Gloucestershire are one win away from another day out at Lord's after their experience and knowhow proved too much for Durham in the B&H Cup quarter-finals.

Seam bowler Jonathan Lewis collected the Man of the Match award after taking four for 23 as Durham were bowled out for 133, replying to the home side's total of 199.

Lewis, who went to the West Indies with the England A team during the winter, picked the right day to perform at his best with England's chairman of selectors David Graveney among the spectators.

"We knew we had a decent score on that wicket. It was very slow and if we got the ball in the right area, we knew we'd put them under a bit of pressure.

"I had a very, very good tour in the Caribbean, I learned a lot. It was good experience on wickets pretty similar to this, so that helped me a lot," he said afterwards.

"Semi-final - hopefully we'll get a home draw because we've got a great crowd here and whoever it is, good luck to them."

It was neck and neck for three quarters of the game and we just had the legs at the end
  Mark Alleyne

Gloucestershire skipper Mark Alleyne has lifted five one-day trophies in the past two years and he was once again delighted by his side's performance in the field.

"I think 220 was about par, so we were just below par, but we are very good defensively. We were very competitive in the field."

Durham captain Jonathan Lewis - no relation - could only reflect ruefully on another unsuccessful quarter-final appearance.

The county have now reached the last eight of knockout competitions on four occasions since gaining first-class status in 1992, but never gone further.

"There were a few positives to come out of it from our point of view. We bowled and fielded exceptionally well and then we succumbed to a decent game plan from Gloucester when they got round to bowling," he commented.

"But it's encouraging for the county that so many are 25 and under, so I'm looking forward to next year, and the next few years."
