After winning the toss and choosing to bat, New Zealand get off to a terrible start when opener Brendon McCullum sends a return catch to Robin Peterson in the third over
Along with captain Graeme Smith Peterson shows his delight and things are about to get better for SA
Martin Guptill often plays a steady innings at the top of the order but he departs early to the bowling of Dale Steyn as NZ slump to 16-2
South Africa's early dominance is epitomised by some superb fielding, Francois du Plessis here saving a certain boundary
But led by Jesse Ryder New Zealand look to rebuild, the left hander hitting a half century and then going on to pass 1,000 ODI runs
Ross Taylor is becalmed at the other end for much of his innings as along with Ryder he posts a century partnership
Taylor finally tries to accelerate but is caught in the deep and with the New Zealand innings stalling Imran Tahir takes the key wicket of Ryder for 83
And the wickets fall at regular intervals, Scott Styris scoring at a decent pace before dragging on from Morne Morkel

To stand a chance of defending their total New Zealand need early wickets and they enjoy a huge stroke of luck when Hashim Amla cuts the ball down on to Brendon McCullum's foot, Daniel Vettori then pouching the catch
After Graeme Smith departs there is another scare when AB de Villiers goes for a tight single and has to dive full length to make his ground
With De Villiers and Jacques Kallis at the crease South Africa are cruising but Kallis plays an uncharacteristic heave and is well caught on the boundary by jacob Oram
And having survived one close call De Villiers is well out as Brendon McCullum flattens the stumps.
Defending a small total new Zealand's lack of wicket takers looks a problem but Jacob Oram steps up, taking four wickets as South Africa crumble
JP Duminy, guilty of giving his wicket away through injudicious shot selection, can only look on as 130-3 turns into 172 all out and sickening defeat
Not that New Zealand care. The underdogs are through to the semi-finals - for them the celebrations can begin
