Australia v Canada: It is a dead rubber in Group A, with Australia already in the last eight and Canada going home. Canada legend John Davison, 40, bats for the last time in a World Cup and he is caught behind for 14
But Canada get off to an absolute flier in Bangalore as 19-year-old opener Hiral Patel smashes the Australians to all parts of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, bringing up a superlative fifty from only 37 balls
Patel eventually falls for 54, but Zubin Surkari and Ashish Bagai take Canada to 150-2. Bagai goes for 39 and Jimmy Hansra soon follows and after Surkari is hit painfully by Shaun Tait, he is bowled next ball for 34
It is not all plain sailing for Ricky Ponting, however. He calls repeatedly for the ball to take a catch to dismiss Harvir Baidwan, but Steve Smith does not hear and bumps into him. Ponting hurls the ball to the ground in anger
But Australia's fight back is impressive and veteran paceman Brett Lee leads the charge for Ponting's men, Lee taking 4-46 from 8.4 overs as they bowl the Canadians out for 211 after 45.4 overs
Australia's reply gets off to a wobbly start as Shane Watson lofts Harvir Baidwan into the night sky, but Rizwan Cheema drops the catch. Watson goes on to smash four sixes in a brutal 94, while Brad Haddin hammers 88
Haddin's dismissal brings Ponting to the crease. He has been short of runs in the World Cup and his poor recent form continues, the captain pulling Henry Osinde to Davison at square leg for seven
Australia still canter home, winning by seven wickets with more than 15 overs to spare. But Canada can hold their heads high, no-one more so than the great Davison, who is applauded off the Bangalore pitch at the end
