Bravo goes down clutching his knee in New Delhi on Thursday
West Indies' World Cup hopes have suffered a major blow after a knee injury ruled all-rounder Dwayne Bravo out of the rest of the tournament. Bravo, 27, twisted his knee during the defeat against South Africa on Thursday and had to be carried from the field. West Indies have confirmed the problem will keep Bravo out of action for four weeks, meaning his tournament is over. "The team management and selectors are meeting to discuss a replacement," revealed a West Indies spokesman. He told the Press Association: "Dwayne had an MRI scan earlier on Friday and when the results came back it wasn't very good, so he is out of the tournament. De Villiers inspires S Africa victory "He has damaged his left knee and and he is expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks." Bravo is the third of the West Indies' first-choice XV to be ruled out of the World Cup after exciting opener Adrian Barath and wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh were also sent home with injuries. He scored 40 from 37 balls against South Africa before pulling up in his third over as the Proteas cantered to victory. The absence of Bravo could mean a promotion in the batting order of the big-hitting Kieron Pollard, while left-arm slow bowler Nikita Miller could come into the team for their next match against Netherlands in Delhi on Monday.
