Rose Bowl to host first Test match in 2011

England celebrate a wicket
England last played Sri Lanka in a home series in 2006

The Rose Bowl will host its first Test match when Sri Lanka and India tour England in the summer of 2011.

Hampshire's home ground will be the venue for the final Test of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, starting on 16 June.

England will also face Sri Lanka in a five-match one-day international series and a Twenty20 before taking on India.

England and India will contest a four-Test series as well as five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match.

England lost their last home series 1-0 to India in 2007.

England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive David Collier said: "With India currently the number one ranked Test side in the ICC Test rankings and Sri Lanka in third place, England supporters can expect to see two exciting Test series against high-quality opposition.

"Both teams will also provide a tough challenge for England in the shorter forms of the game in what promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining summer of international cricket all round."
