Twenty20 International, Florida: New Zealand v Sri Lanka: Date: 22 May Coverage: Scorecard and report on BBC website
The teams will make history when they line up in Lauderhill |
Cricket history will be made in Florida this weekend when New Zealand play Sri Lanka in two Twenty20 internationals. It is the first time two full members of the International Cricket Council have contested a series in America. New Zealand Cricket has a partnership with the USA Cricket Association and matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday in Lauderhill, near Miami. The Kiwis are without injured Jesse Ryder and the now retired Shane Bond so Andy McKay comes into the squad. McKay, a 30-year-old left-arm seamer who has played three one-day internationals, has recovered from a foot injury that kept him out of the series against Australia and the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies. | 606: DEBATE |
Sri Lanka are without Muttiah Muralitharan, who has a groin injury. The USA and Jamaica will also play Twenty20 matches at the Central Broward Park this weekend. An initial match had to be cancelled because the lighting at the stadium was not of sufficient standard for international cricket. "It's something different," Sri Lanka batsman Mahela Jayawardene said. "We're excited to be here, it's a great experience and great exposure to play under different circumstances as well as different conditions."
