Spriegel averaged 23.15 from 14 innings in Division One last season

Matthew Spriegel hit a ton as he and Stuart Meaker put on an unbroken 183 for the seventh wicket to rescue Surrey in their tour match with Bangladesh.

Surrey were in trouble on 135-6 at The Oval when the pair came together.

But Spriegel hit an unbeaten 108, bolstered by Meaker's 94, enabling Surrey to declare not long before the close on a more healthy 318-7.

That gave Surrey five overs to bowl at the tourists before stumps, Bangladesh replying on 12-0.

Earlier, on his first-class debut, teenager Tom Lancefield had hit an impressive 47.
